Extensive Art Program Comes to Ballantyne

Posted on September 7, 2022

Northwood Office has introduced a comprehensive art program to its Ballantyne campus. CREATE Ballantyne is a partnership with Blumenthal Performing Arts, ArtPop, Charlotte Is Creative and The Savage Way. Together, they will bring exhibits, murals, sculptures and more to South Charlotte.

In conjunction with the Charlotte International Arts Festival, Blumenthal Performing Arts will present larger-than-life installations in Ballantyne’s Backyard, Sept. 16 through Oct. 2. Man by Parer Studio will overlook a pond, and Architects of Air Luminarium will be situated on the lawn at the main entrance of the Backyard. Food trucks, breweries, live music, yoga classes and more will enhance the viewing experience.

As Ballantyne Reimagined becomes a reality, ArtPop has turned construction sites into areas full of color and vibrancy. Billboard-sized reproductions of local art now hang along construction fencing throughout Ballantyne’s Backyard and on Ballantyne Commons Parkway. Also, the picnic tables in the Backyard’s dining area now sport paintings inspired by nature. (Read more about the picnic table art on p. 80.)

Charlotte Is Creative integrates creativity throughout the Ballantyne campus with two installations: a selfie station and a 65-foot mural on the staircase entrance to the Backyard in partnership with Charlotte’s “Mural Ninjas,” Michelle Gregory and MyLoan Dinh.

The Savage Way also adds uplifting messages at 12 sidewalk locations throughout the Ballantyne campus using custom stencils and water pressurizers.
